The Essentials

“A book is a gift you can open again and again”   -Garrison Keillor

Although I rarely read fiction I’ve stepped out of the box and packed these books:

The Hobbit, J.R.R. Tolkien, 1937

Utopia, Sir Thomas More, 1516

The Adventures of Don Quixote, Cervantes, 1605

The Constitution, Constitutional Convention, 1787

A Collection of Henry David Thoreau Essays, Henry David Thoreau, 1849-1864

The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn, Mark Twain, 1885

Get a Grip on Astronomy, Robin Kerrod, 1999

Good luck on your journey. Have you read Bluffs to Bayous, by Byron Curtis? It chronicles his solo kayak trip down the Mississippi that he took 10 years ago this month. I highly recommend it.
